It was wonderfully seeing all those happy faces on our First Week of School.  We had a great start and I am sure we will have an awesome School year!!!

This week we will work on the following topics:

Kindergarten: Class Expectations. ''Bienvenidos a la Clase de Español''.

First Grade: We will practice greeting vocabulary: students will create small Booklets with greeting expressions.

Second Grade: Greetings practice: mini booklets

Third Grade: We will finish ''LA Tomatina'' cultural lesson, graphic organizer and goggle map tools to locate the Festival.

Fourth Grade: La Tomatina summer Festival: cultural lesson.

Fifth Grade: La Tomatina summer Festival: cultural lesson.

Sixth Grade: La Tomatina summer Festival, Combate con Tomates

Seventh Grade: Los Cognados

Eight Grade: Los Cognados reading activities and Matamoscas.

Week at a Glance for September 2 - 9 , 2022

Dear Saint Therese Friends,

For those who don't know me I am Señora Decker and I will be your child's Spanish Teacher for the 2022 -2023 school year.  

A quick introduction to me! This will be my sixth year at Saint Therese school,  I am a native speaker, I was born and raised in Ecuador. I taught in other Catholic Schools and currently I shared my time with Roxbury School District as a Special Education Paraprofessional.  I love what I do and I am looking forward to see all my students.

I will respond within 24 hours during the week except Wednesday and Thursday days that I work at my other school.

My students Grades 1 - 8 will need a folder for Spanish, I will provide the material they need for each class. Also please make sure Students 3th to 8th grade check my Google Classroom weekly.

I will meet with every class 40 minutes a week. 

Bellow you will find the activities for our first week of school.

Grades K - 1 - 2: 

• Class expectations and Greetings. 
• The importance of learning another language.

Grades 3 - 4 - 5 - 6:

• Class expectations.
• ''LA TOMATINA'': end of the summer celebration that takes place in Spain. (This lesson will be adapted for each grade level).

Grades 7 - 8 :

• Class expectations.
• Cognates.

 

Week at a Glance for November 1 - 5

Kindergarten: Students will practice 6 basic colors in Spanish.

First Grade: Students will practice colors in Spanish. Draw and Color activity package.

Second Grade and Third Grade: Students will practice colors and work on color center activities.

Fourth Grade: Students will work on Classroom and School supplies vocabulary.  Scavenger Hunt.

Fifth - Eight Grade: We will be celebrating El Dia de Los Muertos with different activities as part of Cultural Awareness.

Sixth Grade:     Adjetivos Descriptivos slide show project: Mi Familia and Gender                          and Number agreement.

Seventh Grade:  Verbo gustar + infinitives. Finish activity package of negatives.

Eight Grade:       no school.

Hola Saint Therese Families!

Today we will start our first week of remote learning.  Let's be optimistic, we are all in this together, please, as always if there is ANYTHING I can do to make this transition easier let me know, I will be happy to help!

For the next two weeks I will have office hours on Monday, Tuesday and Friday in the morning from 9:00 am to 12:00; if you have any questions or you need to meet with me send me an email wl@stthereseroxbury.org.
